Video 1 – Domain Name
This video will show you how to register a domain name using Name Cheap and gives you advice on choosing your domain name.
Video 2 – Setting up your hosting
Video 2 takes you through setting up your hosting through Hostgator Hosting.
Video 3 – Installing WordPress
You will be taught how to install WordPress in one quick and easy step.
Video 4 – Choosing a Theme
This video will guide you through choosing a theme for your WordPress site. It also includes a document around good webdesign principles.
Video 5 – Setting up Permalinks
This is extremely important for your WordPress website. If you did not set up permalinks then your pages and posts would be given a page/post name that didn’t mean anything e.g. ?p4. I will show you how to set up your permalinks so it will automatically name the page/post the title you have given it e.g. this page will be named free-virtual-assistant-wordpress-training.html. This helps greatly with Search Engine Optimization.
Video 6 – Plugins
This video will talk about plugins. It will highlight the main plugins your website should have including akismet for spam protection, Platinum SEO Pack and Google XML Sitemap.
Video 7 – Pages
You will learn how to add pages to your website.
Video 8 – Contact Form
A contact form is essential for any website. You should always have one. This is done simply by using a plugin.
Video 9 – Customizing the sidebar
You will learn how to customize the sidebar using menus and widgets.
Video 10 – Uploading media and Logo
This video takes you through uploading pictures to the library and how to add your logo.
Video 11 – Posts
This takes you through adding posts to your website.
